Hamptons car lovers invest $25K to turn garages into luxury lounges
Long Island resident Arthur Aidala has spent about $25,000 renovating his East End garage into a climate-controlled, entertainment-filled space for his 15-car collection.
Arthur Aidla, a longtime New York car enthusiast, transformed the garage of his Quogue home into a 500-square-foot, climate-controlled lounge for six of his prized vehicles, spending roughly $25,000 on dehumidifiers, HVAC, lifts and upscale décor. The space now functions as a social hub where he and friends enjoy drinks, cigars and movies while rotating cars seasonally. Local architect Mark Matthews notes comparable luxury garage builds, such as a subterranean car bunker in Bridgehampton, while real-estate broker Bradford "B.B."
King highlights listings that include multi-car lifts and climate control as selling points. The Hangar Group, founded by pilot-collector Scott Cunningham, plans a 33-acre car-condo complex in Southampton with 65 units priced at about $800 per square foot, offering shared clubhouse amenities. Designer Lucila Anderson is already being hired to customize interiors for high-end buyers, underscoring the Hamptons’ growing market for premium automotive storage.
