Hanoi launches massive investment drive covering 18 flagship infrastructure projects

Hanoi unveiled 292 development projects worth roughly US$15 billion, highlighting 18 flagship schemes in transport, environment and public services.

At a ceremony, Hanoi's municipal People’s Committee presented 292 projects totaling roughly US$15 billion, with 18 priority schemes targeting transport, infrastructure, environmental protection and public services. The first 15-km segment of the Ring Road 4 parallel road, running from the Huu Hong dyke-Hong Ha Bridge area to Thang Long Boulevard, is now open to technical traffic and is about 90 % finished; two more sections will be inaugurated later this year.

Other highlighted works include three sections of Ring Road 2.5, the Yen So Bus station designed for up to 1,000 vehicle trips daily, and a new 300-bed wing of Hanoi Heart Hospital. New logistics links feature an elevated road on Co Linh Street connecting to the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway and the Giang Bien inland waterway port. Environmental efforts comprise dyke upgrades, dredging and pollution control on the Nhue River and a cleanup project for the Cau Bay River, plus a wastewater treatment system for western Hanoi. Industrial, tourism and education projects such as the first phase of Tien Thang Industrial Park, a Ba Vi Safari Park, a horse-racing entertainment complex in Soc Son and modern schools in Thach That, Soc Son and Phu Dong were also announced.

Why it matters

The plan aims to boost Hanoi's connectivity, create jobs and improve living standards through large-scale infrastructure spending.
