Harmoni secures $10 million Series A to AI-enable legacy U.S. factories

Harmoni raised $10 million in Series A funding to add AI tools for existing American factories.

Harmoni, founded in 2023 to equip U.S. factories with smart tablets and AI-driven software, closed a $10 million Series A financing led by Bessemer Venture Partners, though it kept its valuation private. With about 40 customers and plans to add ten more, the firm focuses on the roughly 280,000 American plants that rely on older machinery, especially in aerospace and defense. The startup’s solution integrates magnetically attached tablets that allow workers to clock in, view instructions, and report issues from a single interface, replacing fragmented legacy systems from companies like MachineMetrics and Datanomix.

Its latest AI feature, HAL, uses data collected by the tablets to answer operator questions and trigger actions such as maintenance requests, effectively letting staff “speak to the machines.” Early users such as WessDel say the system has cut hour-long daily tasks to minutes, addressing labor shortages highlighted by a Deloitte-Manufacturing Institute study. While unions may worry about job impacts, Harmoni positions its technology as a way to reduce repetitive admin work rather than replace workers.

Why it matters

The funding could accelerate AI retrofits that help aging U.S. factories stay competitive amid labor shortages.
