HBO Announces New Cast for Harry Potter Season Two, Adding Dobby, Ginny and Riddle
HBO revealed that Lenny Rush, Bonnie Hill and Billy Barratt will portray Dobby, Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle in the second season of its Harry Potter series.
HBO has added three actors to its upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation for the second season, which will adapt the “Chamber of Secrets” novel. Lenny Rush has been cast as the house-elf Dobby, while Bonnie Hill replaces Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley following the latter’s exit for undisclosed reasons. Billy Barratt will portray a teenage Tom Riddle.
Production is underway at Leavesden Studios outside London, with the first season—featuring Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter—scheduled to launch on Dec. 25. The series, executive-produced by Francesca Gardiner, Mark Mylod, J.K. Rowling and others, continues to assemble a large ensemble that includes John Lithgow, Janet McTeer and Nick Frost. Season two remains in pre-production, signaling continued investment in the high-profile franchise.
