Head of National Strategy Research Institute resigns amid reform push

Tarr Zoltán, minister responsible for social relations and culture, disclosed that the president of the National Strategy Research Institute (NSKI) has handed in his resignation after an audit uncovered multiple procedural and scientific shortcomings. NSKI, a subsidiary of the Central Research and Development Office, works closely with the state secretariat for social relations and supplies data for Hungarian ethnic policy.

The ministry emphasized that the institute will continue to operate, but its framework will be overhauled to improve transparency, simplify its hierarchy, and boost genuine scholarly output. The resignation follows several rounds of discussions between the secretariat and Szász Jenő. The planned reforms aim to create a more effective background institution.
