Health and care providers avert strike after overtime mediation yields new wage deal
After eight hours of overtime mediation, representatives of Fagforbundet, Delta and NHO Geneo reached an agreement that averts a health-sector strike.
Negotiations between the union Fagforbundet, the employer group Delta and NHO Geneo were held at the Riksmekleren on 11 September, extending into eight hours of overtime to meet the midnight deadline. The agreement revises the Health and Care Collective Agreement, covering many firms that deliver public welfare services. Linda Leiro Egseth, the lead negotiator for NHO Geneo, expressed satisfaction that the settlement serves patients, users, families and staff.
Marit Solheim, representing Delta, noted that the new terms bring private provider salaries in line with municipal standards and introduce higher base wages, increased inconvenient-work allowances, advance payment of care benefits, and a phased rise in minimum wage rates. The parties described the outcome as a significant step toward equal working conditions for private and public sector employees.
