Health Minister appoints Constantinotits Miklós as new head of National Ambulance Service

Health Minister Hegedűs Zsolt named Constantinotits Miklós as the new chief director of the Országos Mentőszolgálat, granting him a five-year contract that may be prolonged for an additional five years. Constantinotits, an oxyologist and emergency-medicine doctor whose career has been tied to the ambulance service, previously headed the Medical Professional Department and acted as interim director from the summer. His mandate includes reducing ambulance response times, enhancing patient safety, renewing the fleet and equipment, developing a career model for paramedics and overhauling the service’s organisational culture.

The minister highlighted the need for a comprehensive renewal of the agency in coming years. The appointment resulted from a two-stage open tender: nine candidates applied, two were disqualified for formal flaws, one withdrew, and the remaining six underwent written and oral assessments, with the evaluation panel scoring independently before recommending the choice to the minister.
