Health Minister Hegedűs announces launch of unified patient satisfaction platform

Health Minister Hegedűs Zsolt said a nationwide patient feedback system will go live next week, aiming to track safety and quality indicators.

At a conference on the future of Hungarian healthcare, Health Minister Hegedűs Zsolt warned that the sector faces a pivotal opportunity that must not be wasted. He called for a long-term change in perspective among policymakers and noted systemic flaws, including poorly aligned doctor incentives. The minister presented three strategic aims: boosting staffing and salaries, restructuring core funding, and expanding access, including private-public cooperation.

Starting next week, a unified patient satisfaction platform will gather feedback, monitor adverse events, and measure safety and quality metrics, with results returned to clinicians and hospitals. He also mentioned upcoming regulations for private providers and a plan to reduce inpatient waiting lists with positive incentives. Additional steps include linking the NEAK database with the EESZT and establishing an independent quality-assessment authority by January.
