Health Ministry launches AI-powered platform to audit private clinics

The Health Ministry introduced Medwatch, a new AI-driven platform designed to monitor private medical facilities by leveraging the country's digital infrastructure and recent registries. According to Minister Adonis Georgiadis, the system can perform precise, automated inspections and will soon be complemented by a mobile application that enables the public to confirm a doctor's operating licence, provide feedback, and submit electronic complaints once authorized by law.

AI agents continuously crawl the internet to spot advertisements or online posts that could violate licensing, practice standards, or current legislation, activating enforcement mechanisms without waiting for a citizen tip. The ministry also plans to form a high-level committee, chaired by Matina Pagoni, to examine regulatory gaps in emerging fields such as regenerative medicine, wellness and longevity. Georgiadis rejected accusations of regulatory laxity, emphasizing that medical associations already conduct inspections and impose disciplinary measures under existing law.
