Health Ministry orders immediate shutdown of Medica Tel Aviv hospital over safety violations

During an unannounced visit last Thursday, Health Ministry representatives inspected the Medica Tel Aviv facility in Ramat Hahayal and identified a range of serious deficiencies in clinical practice and operating-room protocols. The inspection report indicated that several treatments were carried out in direct contravention of professional authority and legal requirements, prompting the ministry to label the situation a profound systemic failure that threatens patient safety.

Consequently, the district physician issued an administrative order shutting down all medical services at the center until further notice. The ministry also announced that senior officials of the Medica network, its owners and board members will be called to an urgent hearing, with possible individual disciplinary measures for those who exceeded their authority. This action follows earlier findings at the Medica Raphael branch in July, which led to a temporary suspension of its operating rooms until corrective steps were taken.
