Heavy rain and strong winds forecast for 19 Indian states on Wednesday

The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Wednesday, indicating heavy to very heavy precipitation in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh, with isolated spots possibly receiving extreme downpours. Strong winds are forecast for Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh, where sustained speeds could reach 50-60 kmph and gusts up to 70 kmph, while the Bay of Bengal may see winds of 55-65 kmph with gusts near 75 kmph.

In total, at least 19 states and Union territories, including Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, the northeastern states, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Kerala, are expected to experience rain. Delhi is likely to remain mainly clear, and temperatures will stay near normal, ranging from 34-36°C max to 23-25°C min. Scattered showers are also possible in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with heavier rain predicted later in the week.
