Heavy rain expected across Malaga province with possible flooding through Monday

Spain's Aemet warns of heavy rain hitting Malaga province from Saturday night through Monday, especially along the western Costa del Sol.

Aemet has forecast a trough over Spain and an isolated cold air mass that will increase instability and bring a moist flow to the Mediterranean coast this weekend. The agency notes uncertainty about the exact position of the 'dana' and the amount of rainfall, but expects downpours to start Saturday, first affecting the Cantabrian coast and the Balearic Islands. In Malaga province, interior locations such as Antequera and the Serranía de Ronda may see rain Saturday afternoon, while the city of Malaga and coastal zones are expected to stay dry until late Saturday night.

From early Sunday onward, rain should spread across the entire province, with the western Costa del Sol—Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Rincón de la Victoria—most at risk of heavy showers, though totals remain uncertain. Showers will continue Monday, mainly along the coast, as temperatures fall to typical early-autumn levels around 22-23 °C.
