Heavy rain forecast for Malaga Monday as storms move toward Murcia, Alicante and the Balearics

AEMET has placed Malaga city under a yellow alert for heavy rain on Monday, forecasting an 80% chance after midnight, 100% from 6 am to midday and 90% through the afternoon, while temperatures dip to roughly 25 °C. Forecast models on Meteologix indicate Monday may become the wettest day of the coming two weeks, with the most extreme scenarios predicting over 50 L per square metre, particularly in inland valleys such as Guadalhorce, Antequera and the Axarquía. The agency’s warning page will display any official colour alerts, and the regional 112 service recently raised its alert level to orange in parts of inland Malaga.

The rain band will first affect western Andalusia, then shift eastward, bringing isolated storms to Murcia, Alicante and the Balearic Islands on Tuesday, where short, intense showers could cause localized flooding and travel disruptions. Drivers are advised to avoid dry riverbeds, allow extra time on the A-7 and at AGP airport, and be cautious on mountain roads in Almería and inland Alicante.
