Helen Jenner steps up as Reform UK Wales leader after Dan Thomas resignation

Reform UK in Wales has named Helen Jenner as its new leader after Dan Thomas resigned amid legal trouble. Jenner, previously deputy leader and elected Senedd member for Bangor Conwy Mon, also holds the shadow portfolio for Education and the Welsh Language. Thomas, who guided the party to become the second-largest opposition group in the Welsh Parliament, announced his departure citing personal reasons following his arrest on suspicion of assault and controlling or coercive behaviour.

Gwent Police said the 45-year-old man from Aberbargoed was bailed pending further inquiries and was released without charge. Thomas affirmed he had done nothing wrong and will continue representing his constituents in Casnewydd Islwyn. Jenner, born in Neath and raised on Anglesey, returns to Welsh politics after a decade working in England and London.
