Helsinki police seek driver involved in Vallila pedestrian collision

Helsinki police opened an inquiry into a collision that took place on a Tuesday around 5:45 a.m. on Hämeentie close to Vallilan kirkko in the Vallila district. According to the investigation, a pedestrian attempted to cross the crosswalk after observing the approaching car slow down, but was nonetheless hit by a white Škoda with a farmer-style body. The driver, a man, halted the vehicle together with a passerby to assess the victim's condition, but subsequently drove the car to a hospital without leaving any contact information.

Police have issued a request for the driver to identify himself to aid the investigation. The case is being treated as a serious breach of traffic safety and a possible injury offence.
