Henkel pulls popular styling mousse from shelves over explosion risk

Henkel Corporation issued a voluntary recall of specific 6.76-ounce cans of its Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip Extra Strong Mousse, citing a potential packaging issue that could let the product leak under pressure and pose an explosion danger. The recall follows one consumer complaint describing hand bruising and two reports from salons, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA listed numerous batch codes linked to the problem and identified distribution through 21 distributors in states including Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Washington, as well as direct sales to hair professionals.

No additional injuries were reported. Consumers who purchased the affected cans should return them to the point of sale for a complete refund. Henkel did not provide further comment when contacted.
