Herbie Farnworth aims to turn past finals loss into Dolphins' breakthrough

Former Brisbane Broncos centre Herbie Farnworth enters the 2026 NRL finals with the Dolphins, hoping to erase the memory of the 2023 grand final defeat.

Herbie Farnworth, once a rising centre for the Brisbane Broncos, joins the Dolphins as they head into their first finals series in 2026. Still haunted by the Broncos' 2023 grand final loss to the Penrith Panthers, Farnworth says the experience motivates him to succeed. Since moving to the Dolphins, he has topped the league in offloads (72) and tackle busts (150), contributing to the club’s aggressive, high-meter attacking game.

The backline, dubbed the "Fab Five" with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Jack Bostock and Jamayne Isaako, accounts for over 16,800 of the team’s nearly 43,800 metres run this season. Forward players such as Max Plath, Kurt Donoghoe and Morgan Knowles add speed and skill, complementing the backs. The Dolphins open their finals campaign in New Zealand against a supportive Warriors crowd, hoping to finally claim the premiership they missed in Brisbane.
