Herzog's 'Bucking Fastard' Debuts at Venice with Emotional Standing Ovation
Werner Herzog unveiled his new film 'Bucking Fastard' at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a six-and-a-half-minute standing ovation.
At the Venice Film Festival, Werner Herzog presented his latest project, 'Bucking Fastard,' which opened to a six-and-a-half-minute standing ovation in the historic Sala Grande. The film follows sisters Jean and Joan Holbrooke, played by Rooney Mara and Kate Mara, who speak in unison, love the same man, and embark on an ambitious tunnel-digging quest that turns them into media sensations. Orlando Bloom portrays their lover, while Domhnall Gleeson acts as a government social worker tasked with modernizing their lives.
Herzog noted that the Mara sisters' natural synchronicity eliminated the need for his typical two-week rehearsal period. The 83rd edition of the festival also celebrated George Clooney with a Golden Lion for lifetime achievement and will conclude with awards on Sept. 12.
