Hibiscus Petroleum inks partnership with Seri Pajam to develop diversified power projects in Senawang
Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd and Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd have signed a heads-of-agreement to explore gas-turbine, solar and carbon-capture power projects on SPD’s land in Senawang.
On September 30, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd entered a heads-of-agreement with Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd to jointly assess and develop a range of power generation solutions on land owned by Seri Pajam and its affiliates. The collaboration will focus on gas-turbine and gas-engine combined-cycle plants, solar power installations and carbon-capture technologies, aiming to provide a domestic power source for future data-centre developments in the SPD Tech Valley industrial park in Senawang.
This move aligns with Hibiscus’s Hibiscus 3.0 plan to diversify into energy-transition and adjacent sectors while retaining its oil-and-gas core. The agreement builds on a prior letter of collaboration that also involved Sime Darby Energy Solutions, Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, combining engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning expertise. Senior Vice-President of Strategic Initiatives Chong Chee Seong said the partnership is a key step in meeting the growing demand for reliable, low-carbon power for AI and data-centre workloads and creating more stable revenue streams for shareholders.
Why it matters
The deal expands Malaysia's clean-energy capacity and supports growing data-centre and AI infrastructure.
