Hilton accuses Becerra of endangering migrant children at California intake center

Steve Hilton, the Republican candidate for governor, unveiled a video that features an anonymous former employee of the Pomona Fairplex, a key intake facility for unaccompanied migrant children set up during the Biden administration. The whistleblower alleges that workers who uncovered a wanted sponsor for a 13-year-old Salvadoran child and who flagged a suspicious address with no homes were removed or terminated after raising concerns.

According to the testimony, Becerra, then secretary of Health and Human Services, visited the site solely for publicity while pressuring staff to expedite child placements. The campaign contends that this focus on speed compromised proper vetting and increased trafficking risks. Hilton cited the allegations as evidence of Becerra’s mismanagement, linking them to broader criticism of his record on migrant-child policies.
