Whistleblower alleges migrant child abuse and missing siblings at Becerra-linked Fairplex center

A caseworker who spent six months at the Pomona Fairplex immigration hub in 2021 has come forward with disturbing allegations of child abuse, sibling separations and the placement of minors with unverified sponsors. She says the center accepted falsified documents, used selfies as identification and communicated with sponsors via WhatsApp, making it impossible to confirm children’s destinations. Specific incidents include a five-year-old named Grace who could not locate her older sister after they were split up, and reports of sexual harassment by teenage boys toward female staff.

The whistleblower blames former Health Secretary Xavier Becerra for directing the relaxation of sponsor vetting, a claim echoed by Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, who also disputes Becerra’s earlier statements about missing migrant children. Despite the controversy, a recent Public Policy Institute of California poll still shows Becerra ahead of Hilton. The California Post’s request for comment from Becerra has not been answered.
