Hingoli Zilla Parishad suspends primary school headmaster over alleged drunkenness
The Zilla Parishad in Hingoli has suspended primary school headmaster Vinod Katke after villagers accused him of repeatedly coming to work intoxicated and neglecting his duties.
Ahead of a scheduled visit by Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, the Hingoli Zilla Parishad suspended Vinod Katke, headmaster of a primary school in Limbala (Makta), on allegations of habitual intoxication while on duty. District collector Rahul Gupta reported that ZP CEO Vivek Gaikwad issued the suspension order after villagers presented photographs and testimonies claiming Katke arrived at school drunk, skipped teaching, permitted unauthorized villagers to instruct students, and expelled pupils from classrooms.
The complaints surfaced during Dipke’s “School Theek Karo” campaign, which he warned would trigger agitation if no action was taken. Katke received a show-cause notice, but his response failed to satisfy officials, resulting in a suspension under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad District Services Discipline and Appeal Rules, 1964. During the suspension, he will remain at the panchayat samiti in Pal and receive a subsistence allowance but cannot leave without permission.
