Hír FM presenter Palányi Nóra dismissed after silent handling of violent caller
Palányi Nóra, host of Hír TV and Hír FM, was fired for not interrupting a caller who urged the shooting of Magyar Péter.
In the Tuesday broadcast of the call-in program Paláver, a caller shouted that a skilled marksman should kill Magyar Péter, and host Palányi Nóra listened without reacting. The segment was posted on social media, sparking public outcry. Mediaworks, which owns both Hír TV and Hír FM, confirmed that its guidelines demand an immediate termination of any call containing unacceptable or violent content, a step the presenter did not take.
The company also noted that Palányi only distanced herself from the remarks after they aired. Consequently, her contract was ended and an internal investigation initiated to prevent similar incidents. The broadcaster issued an apology to listeners and all parties involved.
