Hispanic Think Tank LIBRE Mobilizes Voters for Georgia GOP Gubernatorial Candidate

The LIBRE Initiative is deploying staff and funds to rally Hispanic voters behind Republican Rick Jackson in Georgia’s governor contest.

The LIBRE Initiative, the nation’s largest center-right Hispanic think tank, announced that its LIBRE State PAC will pour extensive resources into a voter-mobilization drive for Republican Rick Jackson in Georgia’s gubernatorial race. The campaign will feature grassroots get-out-the-vote activities, public debates, targeted mailers and door-knocking in neighborhoods with high Latino populations. LIBRE President Daniel Garza, a former senior official in the George W. Bush administration, said the effort will educate voters on Jackson’s plan to freeze property taxes and scrap the state income tax, while pointing out what he calls the far-left agenda of Democratic nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms.

Garza noted that Bottoms, who received an endorsement from former President Joe Biden, has not addressed these tax issues when speaking to Hispanic audiences. With Hispanic voters accounting for nearly a third of the electorate and polls showing Bottoms leading by roughly five points, LIBRE hopes its outreach could sway the outcome in this closely contested, swing-state election scheduled for Nov. 3.

Why it matters

Targeted Hispanic outreach could tip a tightly contested Georgia governor race.
