Historic Hungarian newspaper Népszabadság returns as online and weekly print outlet
After a decade of silence, Népszabadság is relaunching as a digital news site and a weekly newspaper.
Ten years after its closure, the historic Hungarian title Népszabadság is set to resume operations as an online news portal and a weekly print magazine. The Népszabadság Egyesület approved the use of the paper's trademark and intellectual legacy, enabling the relaunch. The new outlet describes itself as a public-affairs news source, offering articles, analyses, reports and interviews on domestic and global issues.
It will be published alongside Népszava, with both brands exchanging content. Liberty Press Kft. will act as the publisher, while the ownership structure involves 4Sight Media Group Zrt. and editor-in-chief Tóth Ákos, who holds a minority stake. Funding from 4Sight Media Group Zrt. is intended to support the first two years of operation.
