Historic Sandringham water tower opens for public stays

A renovation of the former water tower on the Sandringham Estate, a royal residence north of London, has been completed and the building is now offered to guests. Constructed in 1877 by engineer James Mansergh, the circular neo-Byzantine tower once supplied water to the house for nearly a century. Guests can stay for as little as one night at roughly 151 pounds, with lower nightly costs for extended bookings.

Inside, the space includes a tastefully decorated lounge with a fireplace, chandelier and period paintings, while the upstairs bedroom also has a fireplace and provides panoramic views of the Norfolk landscape, plus a staircase leading to a roof terrace. The tower adds to the estate’s existing rental options, which include the Gardens House for eight people and the Folly for six, and sits alongside other estate enterprises such as farms, a sawmill, a juice-pressing plant, a restaurant and a transport museum.
