The Dutch opened scoring from a penalty corner in the 13th minute, and a controversial goal by Joosje Burg later doubled their lead. Steph Kershaw responded for Australia, scoring in the 23rd minute and later assisting a second equaliser from an Abi Williams flick.

The Netherlands reclaimed control in the final period, adding two more goals through Burg and Marjin Veen to secure the win. The result leaves the Hockeyroos still in a qualifying spot, provided the other group fixture goes their way. Their next challenge is a match against Chile on Wednesday.
