Hollywood eater Raina Huang tests Fat Sal's massive 30-inch $100 sandwich challenge

Fat Sal's presents the "Big Fat Fatty," a towering 30-inch sandwich that can weigh as much as 14 pounds and must be consumed within a 40-minute window, with no leftovers permitted. The challenge, introduced when the deli opened in 2010, was conceived by founders Josh Stone and Sal Capek, who were fans of shows like "Man v. Food." According to VP of Operations Josh Cook, more than a thousand patrons have tried the monster, but only six have succeeded, earning a refund and a branded swag bag.

Competitive eater and social-media personality Raina Huang visited the Hollywood location, but instead of attempting the full time limit, she gave herself ten minutes to see how much she could handle. She reported that the sandwich is very heavy and dense, packed with multiple meats, fried items, sauces, and no vegetables to balance the richness. The menu lists a price of $99.99 for the challenge, and the establishment continues to draw attention from food-challenge enthusiasts.
