Homeless man with extensive rap sheet arrested for sexual-motivation burglary in Manhattan
A homeless individual with a long criminal record was taken into custody after attempting a sexually motivated burglary of a 56-year-old woman's apartment in Alphabet City early Saturday.
Around 4 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to a residence at the corner of Avenue B and East 7th Street in Manhattan after a 911 call reported a burglary in progress. The suspect, 27-year-old homeless individual Ulysses Lucero, attempted to enter the home of a 56-year-old woman, prompting his arrest and a charge of sexually motivated burglary, a classification used when the intrusion is intended for sexual gratification.
Police noted that Lucero has a lengthy criminal record exceeding 20 prior arrests, including burglary, grand larceny, forcible touching, assault and petty larceny. It was not confirmed whether the woman suffered any sexual assault during the incident. Lucero’s arraignment was pending later that night. The case underscores ongoing concerns about safety in the Alphabet City area.
