Homeowner’s 911 Call Leads Police to Unexpected Bobcat Visitor

In Kirkland’s Moss Bay neighborhood, a resident reported mysterious banging inside their home, leading police to respond to a suspected burglary. Upon arrival, officers found a bobcat perched on the staircase, prompting the use of a drone to monitor its movements and ensure officer safety. The animal was corralled into an isolated room until wildlife officials arrived, sedated it, and released it near Forbes Creek, close to its original habitat.

Authorities believe the bobcat entered through an open window, possibly attracted by the homeowner’s cat, which was later found unharmed. Police warned the public not to approach or feed bobcats and advised keeping pets indoors at night. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife also recommended securing small livestock and poultry to prevent similar encounters.
