Homesoy and NCSM launch free mammogram drive across Malaysian states

Homesoy and the National Cancer Society Malaysia have started a campaign offering free mammograms and mobile breast-health checks in several Malaysian regions.

Homesoy has joined forces with the National Cancer Society Malaysia for the “Stop That Dot Together” campaign, which runs from October through December in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Penang. The initiative includes mobile clinical breast examinations and sponsorship of 100 free mammograms via NCSM’s Adopt-A-Mammogram Programme, aimed at low-income women who often postpone screening because of cost and limited access.

Dr Murallitharan Munisamy stressed that a woman’s socio-economic status should not dictate her chances of surviving cancer, while Chang Wan Ping said the campaign seeks to encourage women to prioritize their health. Homesoy 3.0 soy milk will be distributed, and the partnership aims to dispel myths that soy increases breast-cancer risk, with nutrition head Soo Sek Yow noting soy’s potential protective effect. WHO’s Globocan 2022 estimates that about one in 20 Malaysian women will develop breast cancer, and early detection can yield over 90% five-year survival, yet nearly half of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. The campaign hopes to boost early-detection rates and promote overall wellbeing.

Why it matters

Improving access to early breast-cancer screening can dramatically raise survival rates for Malaysian women.
