Honda unveils facelifted 2027 Civic Type R with performance and tech upgrades
Honda has announced a refreshed 2027 Civic Type R for the US market, featuring cooling-focused exterior tweaks, revised chassis settings and new interior comforts.
American Honda Motor disclosed that the 2027 Civic Type R will reach US showrooms in October 2026 with a suite of technical and cosmetic updates. The front bumper has been redesigned to channel more airflow to the K20C1 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, while a deeper front splitter adds front-end downforce, and a new yoke spring gives Brembo brakes a more direct pedal feel. The six-speed manual gearbox now offers faster rev-matching, and the +R drive mode features retuned dampers to reduce bounce and improve stability.
Inside, the cabin gains heated sports bucket seats with three heat settings, a high-friction perforated upholstery pattern, and a new Meteorite Gray Metallic paint finish. Additional interior refinements include a darker-grey shifter knob, auto-dimming mirror, and upgraded trim, while Google Built-in with Gemini and two USB-C ports enhance connectivity. Honda Australia has not announced a release date, though director Rob Thorp indicated confidence in a 2027 arrival.
Why it matters
The facelift introduces performance and tech enhancements that keep the Civic Type R competitive in the hot-hatch segment.
