Hong Kong welcomes 18 new strategic firms to boost investment and jobs
Financial Secretary Paul Chan announced the arrival of 18 strategic enterprises, promising HK$84 billion in investment and about 27,000 jobs.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan unveiled a seventh cohort of 18 strategic enterprises setting up operations in Hong Kong, noting that half are mainland-based. He said the cumulative 142 firms are projected to bring about HK$84 billion in capital and generate roughly 27,000 jobs, reinforcing the city’s role as a global hub for business, talent and ideas. Among the new entrants, one provides an AI-powered system for timely hospital interventions, while another focuses on green and smart mobility vehicle technologies.
Chan emphasized Hong Kong’s financial strengths will aid these companies in securing funding, scaling up, and commercialising their products. Peter Yan, director-general of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, said the arrivals will support the retention of research and development talent. A firm planning its Asia-Pacific headquarters pledged to invest between HK$200 million and HK$300 million, and a precious-metal refiner intends to build a gold-focused refinery in the SAR.
