Housing Minister announces next year's APL benefits will be frozen

He framed the freeze as a substantial saving for the state, noting that the allowances will not be reduced but simply not revalued. The announcement came as Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu presented a new budget that includes a broad effort to curb spending.

APL are allocated based on household income and are paid almost exclusively by the Caisse nationale d'allocations familiales; the Cour des comptes reported an average monthly payment of 219 euros in 2025. Left-wing parties and the CGT immediately expressed anger at the move, while leaders of the RN said they would wait to see how the policy unfolds.
