Houston Astros and General Manager Dana Brown End Partnership by Mutual Agreement

Houston’s baseball franchise disclosed that General Manager Dana Brown and the organization have mutually agreed to part ways, with his contract slated to finish after the current season. In the interim, senior adviser Jeff Bagwell together with assistant general managers Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey and Connor Huff will handle the GM’s responsibilities, while owner Jim Crane will directly oversee baseball operations. The move comes after the Astros posted a 3-6 record on a recent homestand, dropping them into a tie for the AL West lead with the Texas Rangers.

Brown, who assumed the GM role in January 2023 after four seasons as the Atlanta Braves’ vice-president of scouting, expressed gratitude to Crane, the club and its supporters. Owner Jim Crane praised Brown’s contributions, noting two division titles and key work in scouting, drafting and player development during his tenure.
