How NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Telescope Will Work With Global Observatories

The Roman Space Telescope will operate alongside Hubble, James Webb, Euclid and ground-based facilities to deliver broader and sharper views of the cosmos.

NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is set to join a network of space and ground telescopes, enhancing the overall picture of the universe. Its expansive panoramas will identify promising objects for Hubble to examine across infrared, visible and ultraviolet wavelengths. The James Webb Space Telescope can then apply its larger mirror to capture ultra-sharp details of those targets.

Overlapping survey regions with ESA’s Euclid mission will allow Roman’s higher-resolution data to correct and extend Euclid’s broader but less detailed maps. Combining Roman’s infrared measurements with visible-light observations from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory will help achieve Roman-like precision across a vastly larger sky. Additionally, the telescope’s ability to directly photograph Jupiter-size exoplanets paves the way for the planned Habitable Worlds Observatory, which aims to image Earth-like planets beyond our solar system.
