How to Cast Your Vote at Swedish Polling Stations, Early or On Election Day

Swedish citizens who vote before Election Day may select any early-voting centre from an online list, independent of where they live. Those voting on Election Day locate their assigned polling station via a voting card sent either digitally through services like Kivra or by mail. At the station, voters first pick the appropriate party ballot for the national, regional and municipal elections, using a blank ballot if needed.

They then place each ballot into its own envelope inside a private booth, optionally marking a candidate’s name, and may be assisted confidentially by an election worker. After sealing the envelopes, voters present identification at the desk, where an official records the vote and returns the voter’s name to the list.
