Recent experiments indicate that virtual-reality gaming can serve as a safe alternative to sedation for children undergoing imaging or minor surgeries, with participants remaining cooperative and reporting pain levels comparable to those who received anesthesia. Studies involving over a hundred pre-teens in the U.S. and a dozen younger children in Canada reported complete procedure completion without sedatives and faster post-procedure recovery.
