HP launches ultra-thin OmniBook 5 to challenge Apple’s MacBook Neo
HP unveiled the OmniBook 5 14, a lightweight laptop priced from $699.99 that rivals the MacBook Neo with an OLED screen and multiple color options.
HP announced the OmniBook 5 14 as a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Neo, pricing the base model at $699.99. It is equipped with an Intel Core 5 315 “Wildcat Lake” processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a 1080p OLED panel that delivers 300 nits of brightness. Buyers can opt for higher specifications, including a Core 7 350 chip, 16 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD, though the premium OLED touchscreen with 2560 × 1600 resolution won’t be available until March 2027.
The device is notably thin and light at 0.46 inches thick and 2.56 lb, slightly slimmer than the Neo, and includes HDMI, a 3.5 mm audio jack and two 10 Gbps USB-C ports. HP also revealed a ProBook 4 G2iS business laptop, claimed to be its thinnest business notebook at 0.47 inches, launching in December with similar base specs but no price disclosed yet.
