Huanggang Port to Open Monday with Capacity for 200,000 Passengers and 15,000 Vehicles

Secretary for Security Chris Tang said the upgraded Huanggang port will open on Monday, handling up to 200,000 passengers and 15,000 vehicles daily.

The upgraded Huanggang port is set to begin operations on Monday morning, with Secretary for Security Chris Tang assuring a smooth start. The expansion raises daily capacity to 200,000 passengers and 15,000 vehicles, a substantial increase from the former maximum of 65,000 passengers and 12,000 vehicles. Tang said the full capacity will be utilized on the opening day and that the highest level of manpower will be deployed to manage traffic.

He urged the public not to flock to the port initially, noting that the 6.30 am opening aligns with the period when only vehicles bearing Huanggang licence plates are allowed, keeping crowds light. An official opening ceremony will take place on Sunday before the facility opens to the public.
