Huawei unveils Intelligent WAN architecture to boost AI services for ISPs
At a Shanghai roundtable during HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, Huawei introduced its Intelligent WAN Target Architecture aimed at helping ISPs deliver AI-driven services.
During a Shanghai roundtable titled “Intelligent WAN, Fortifying the AI Services Connectivity Foundation for ISPs,” Huawei announced its Intelligent WAN Target Architecture, designed to unlock AI and computing potential for service providers. Wayne Zhou highlighted that AI is accelerating commercialization, pushing ISPs to move beyond traditional pipelines toward edge-node integration of connectivity, computing and APIs.
Ado outlined three strategic pillars: building a hierarchical, modular IP+Optical converged network, prioritising measurable end-to-end user experiences, and enhancing intelligent O&M with tools like a fault-locating agent and AI assistant. The roadmap aims to reduce OPEX and speed AI service rollout. ISP representatives from Indonesia, China and Ecuador contributed case studies on AI services and intelligent network deployment. Huawei pledged continued investment and collaboration to drive the sector into an intelligent future.
