Hundreds protest Donald Trump's appearance at Chicago-area President's Cup golf event

Approximately one hundred protesters assembled at the corner of Irving Park and Medinah Roads near the Medinah Country Club, where Donald Trump is slated to appear during the final round of the President’s Cup. Demonstrators voiced opposition to the administration’s immigration enforcement, rising inflation, and reductions in SNAP and Medicaid, with speakers like Ellen Zhou of Asian Americans Advancing Justice highlighting the impact on immigrant communities.

Luis Rodriguez of the Southwest Suburban Immigrant Project and Jackie Rodriguez of the Service Employees International Union also addressed the crowd, calling for solidarity against perceived injustices. A colorful participant dubbed “Speedo Eagle Man” wore an eagle mascot head and Speedos, holding a sign that read “Stop Trump before he strips everything away.” The PGA Tour announced Trump’s role as honorary chairman, his first Chicago-area appearance since his 2024 reelection, and the tournament features 24 top golfers split between Team USA and an international team.
