Hungarian driver found with two hand grenades hidden under car at Croatia-Bosnia border
Police at the Slavonski Samac crossing discovered two M75 hand grenades taped to the underside of a 25-year-old Hungarian man's car arriving from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Border police and customs officials at the Slavonski Samac crossing on the Croatia-Bosnia-Herzegovina frontier stopped a 25-year-old Hungarian driver arriving from Bosnia-Herzegovina. During the inspection they noticed a packaged object secured to the vehicle’s undercarriage and, after a court-authorized search, uncovered two M75 hand grenades. Investigators state the driver used adhesive tape to fasten the grenades to the car’s chassis, apparently planning to smuggle them into Croatia, which lies within the European Union.
The suspect has been taken into custody, and the Slavonski Brod prosecutor’s office filed a criminal complaint alleging illegal possession, manufacture and procurement of weapons and explosives. He remains in detention pending further legal proceedings.
