Hungarian firm Vimpex to acquire Nestlé's Diósgyőr chocolate plant, keeping production alive

Nestlé disclosed that its chocolate factory in Diósgyőr will be transferred to the Hungarian Vimpex group, preserving the site's confectionery output. The plant, which produces hollow chocolate figures, employs roughly 220 staff members. Under the agreement, Vimpex will keep at least a third of the employees, and Nestlé will grant an extraordinary bonus to those who remain through the end of December, along with a lump-sum payment ranging from five to eleven and a half months' salary based on tenure.

For workers whose positions cannot be maintained, Nestlé will provide severance benefits exceeding the statutory minimum and assistance with finding new employment. Local officials, including Miskolc mayor Tóth-Szántai József, welcomed the buyer's pledge to retain as many jobs as possible.
