Hungarian interior ministry files five complaints against National Sports Agency

Hungary’s interior ministry has filed five criminal complaints concerning the National Sports Agency, according to a video posted by Minister Gábor Pósfai. The ministry claims each case either placed the state at a deliberate disadvantage or generated substantial financial loss. Alleged violations include obtaining benefits without a competitive process, irregularities in property tendering, improper setting of competition regulations, granting free, indefinite use of state-owned real estate and equipment, and procurement at inflated prices.

The minister noted that each matter is connected to the agency’s operations and the assets it oversees. The National Sports Agency is responsible for maintaining Olympic centers, strategic sports facilities, and multi-purpose halls built under a national infrastructure program. The agency’s leadership was previously highlighted for its media ties, but the outlet shifted to public ownership in 2024.
