Hungary and Croatia launch joint natural gas project after talks in Zagreb
Hungarian and Croatian ministers agreed to start a cross-border gas exploration and production venture during a meeting in Zagreb.
In Zagreb, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán and Economy Minister István Kapitány held talks with Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman. The discussions focused on energy collaboration, culminating in an agreement to launch a joint natural gas exploration and production project that lies on both sides of the border. Both sides highlighted the venture as a milestone for bilateral energy ties.
Additional topics included the construction of a new Mura bridge between Murakeresztúr and Kotoriba and plans to broaden transport connections. The ministers also emphasized the importance of reliable oil supply cooperation, mentioning ongoing dialogue between Hungary’s Mol and Croatia’s Janaf regarding an Adriatic oil pipeline. Finally, they reaffirmed the goal of increasing the capacity of the existing gas link between the two nations.
