Hungary Secures New Funding Deal with Norwegian Foundation After Prolonged Talks
Foreign Minister Orbán Anita announced that negotiations with the Norwegian Foundation have concluded, granting Hungary a new financial assistance package.
Hungary has reached a settlement with the Norwegian Foundation, securing a new aid package for the 2021-2028 timeframe, said Foreign Minister Orbán Anita. The cooperation agreement is set to be signed soon, formalising the financial support. Norway will fund the majority of the overall assistance system, addressing previous disputes about the governance of the Norwegian Civil Foundation and its beneficiary selection.
The latest negotiations, restarted in September, resolve the earlier impasse where Hungary received no funds from the allocated amount. This development marks a significant step in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Why it matters
The deal provides Hungary with crucial foreign funding, strengthening its budget and bilateral ties with Norway.
