Hunter Biden criticizes Kamala Harris' political strategy, calls her advice poor

Hunter Biden told interviewer Mehdi Hasan that Vice President Kamala Harris is receiving bad political counsel, but declined to detail his criticism.

During an interview with Zeteo founder and ex-a presenter at one outlet, Hunter Biden remarked that Vice President Kamala Harris is being steered by poor political advice, while also acknowledging her strong record and potential future prominence. He hinted that Harris needs to assert independent positions on matters such as Gaza and Israel, where she has not diverged from President Joe Biden. Hasan referenced a book by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes that claims Joe Biden told Harris there could be "no daylight" between them, a claim the president later denied.

Hunter Biden dismissed the notion that his comments were about loyalty to his father, stating he can speak freely as he is not running for office. He concluded by expressing support for Harris becoming president, attributing her current challenges to misguided counsel. Harris' office did not respond to requests for comment.

Why it matters

The remarks reveal internal family tensions that could affect perceptions of the vice president ahead of the 2024 election.
