Husband confesses to murdering wife, head found in fridge in Guwahati flat
Police say Ramanujan Goswami surrendered and admitted killing his wife, Riya Talukdar Goswami, whose severed head was discovered in a refrigerator.
In the Basisthapur area of Guwahati, authorities recovered the body of 25-year-old Riya Talukdar Goswami after neighbors complained of a strong smell emanating from the flat. The victim's head was found packed in a polythene bag inside a refrigerator, and her fingers had been removed. Police identified her husband, Ramanujan Goswami, as the primary suspect; he surrendered to investigators and admitted to the murder.
Anurag Sharma of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate confirmed the confession and said the crime likely occurred about two days before the discovery. A weapon believed to have been used was also seized from the premises. The remains were forwarded to Guwahati Medical College & Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
