Hyderabad bike mechanic charged with raping and strangling nurse, then slept at work

Hyderabad police have arrested a bike mechanic from Bihar for the rape and strangulation of a nurse in the Pahadishareef area. According to officials, the suspect observed the victim for nearly a month before entering her room through a rear-side window while she slept. When the nurse allegedly resisted the assault, he killed her by strangulation and fled the same window, returning to his garage where he allegedly slept, reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Investigators used mobile-tower data and collected hair strands and other forensic material to build the case, and after initially denying any role, the accused later confessed. The investigation now includes sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and authorities are checking his background with Bihar Police. The victim, a nurse who moved to Hyderabad about seven months ago, remains unnamed in accordance with court directives. He is to be produced before a magistrate for further proceedings.
